ONE, Small Changes , Lean In Malaysia DISTRIBUTE JALUR GEMILANG TO MALAYSIANS

1,000 flags disappeared within 40 mins of distributing. It was a great experience seeing everyone not only giving out the flags, but also seeing the volunteers interact with the public.

The takeaway is that most people thought it too good to be true, that free flags were being given out. Majority were happy, but there were those who refused due to suspicion of a hidden agenda.

Some couldn’t believe it was free, thinking they had to pay for them. Many just took it and walked off, not even looking at us or let alone mention a thank you.

Most interesting were the foreigners, who were more than happy to receive the flags, especially the Bangladeshis who opened them up straight away and took photos.

Even though they are not Malaysians, I am sure there was some pride in us as to how happy they were to be holding the Jalur Gemilang.

All in all, a great day, a fun day with plenty of smiles and laughter. Yes the attitude of Malaysians could vastly improve, to accept generosity without thinking of any agendas, and certainly common courtesy.

But at least there is now one thing we know – there will be 1,000 flags perched somewhere leading up to Merdeka.
